I have a JVC VCR model HR-S5700AM SVHS. It is connected to power and displays the time, as well as a little clock icon to the upper left of the time display (the little clock icon shows 9 o'clock or quarter to twelve, if that matters). I cannot get the VCR to power up. I cannot eject the tape inside. I have pressed every button as well as combinations of buttons in frustration. I have also held the power button on the remote for more than ten seconds. I have replaced the battery with an identical battery hoping that the battery would solve the problem, but it hasn't. I'm almost sure that the little clock icon is telling me something but I don't know what it is. Can you help?

that little icon maybe the dew sensor, in that case the vcr would not function properly.take the case off, and try to hand cycle the tape out. see if you can see any moister. let the c
vcr dry out with the power unplugged. then plug the unit back after it has dryed out. lrt it dry overnite if possible, maybe speed things up using a hair dryer.
good luck,snuffs

Did you try holding the power button on the vcr for ten seconds? It sure sounds like it is in child lock mode. Look in the manual for the correct way to release that mode.

Eric,
You wouldn't' believe that I have exactly the same VCR and exactly the same problem. I'm wondering if you ever found out how to resolve. Unfortunatley I've misplaced my manual so I can't figure out some of the other suggestions from the forum.
Can you help?
