Help!

I have a Toshiba MV19H01 TV/VCR combo and it won't stay on! It's a older TV, and a couple of months ago, it began to shut off at odd times during the day by itself, and also it would turn on in the middle of the night by itself.

I thought that perhaps somehow someone had set a timer on without knowing, but I checked and nothing is set. Now the TV just shuts off immediately after you turn the unit on. Also, it won't take a VCR tape.

Any suggestions?

Roxanne

Roxanne,
This is one of the main reasons I don't like combos!
A TV is usually worth repairing, but VCR's are now considered throw-aways since decent ones are now about $50.

Heat is an electronics item weakest link: there is probably a problem solder joint in the power supply making it turn on/off.
I'd get an ESTIMATE to repair the TV, and maybe have it fixed.
Buy a new, separate VCR.
