i have a very shiny, brassy (dated - IMO!) ceiling fan. i want to replace it with one that is more of a dark, almost black finish. but i was thinking that, if it's possible, painting my brass one would certainly be cheaper. so, can/should you paint a ceiling fan? i'm thinking i should probably try to not get paint INTO the motor area, through those air intake holes, right? and if so, how? i was envisioning using spray paint, but maybe it'd be better to use a brush, to keep the paint from entering the motor housing area? anything else to consider???

i'll post this question in the Painting forum also, to get their advice on prep, primers & paints.....
