This may sound crazy, but I was curious if anyone had any tips on properly hooking up a gas stove/oven. Thanks!

God bless,

Ryan

Hello Ryan. Welcome to my Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Basically, for those whom are already handy with hand tools, connecting a new stove can be a simple doityourself project. All that's needed is a few simple steps, some prior knowledge and a bit of caution.

Take into consideration to do the task yourself you'll need two or three hand tools. Adjustable wrench, water pump pliers and a pipe wrench. Pipe thread compound should also be used on pipe threads but not on connector threads.

Much depends on your own personal mechanical skills and abilities, potential and unknown or unseen difficulties and local codes to consider.

Personally, I do not suggest or recommend that the do-it-yourself person who's skills and abilities are unknown to me attempt for this type of project.

Also consider you're going to have to remove and or install all new piping fittings. These fittings would be the shut off valve on the gas supply pipe extending out of the wall or up through the floor, a new flex gas line and the adapter on the inlet pipe of the stove.

Gas line installations, inside the confines of the home and especially behind walls and other confined areas, are projects that are best left to the plumbing professionals.

Soap test all connections for leaks upon job completion.

The local gas company may also connect ranges for a small connect fee should you care to explore that option.

The above instructions and suggestions are for natural gas. They may not apply to propane. You did not state which type of fuel your appliance is using, therefore I have to assume natural gas.

An excellent source for the replacement parts is your local retail appliance parts store. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances. Read the prior topics, within this forum, on this subject of stove and or dryer connecting or disconnecting and the replies offered.

Kindly use the reply button to add any additional information, etc. Any additional information you add will remain within this posting. Using this method also moves the topic back up to the top of the list automatically.
