I've got a couple hp compressor, and plan to use it
to spray prime and paint my drywalled basement.

What's a good type of air sprayer to get? Gravity?
Cheap ones at harborfreight work okay?

The gravity fed hvlp guns at harbor freight are for shooting thin materials (car paint) not latex or even oil base. A pressure pot gun will work better. The 2 hp compressors dont really put out enough air for a spray gun. Check out the cfm requirements of the gun and your compressor. I used my gravity fed to shoot thinned oil base, incidentally with a 2hp, but at home its my 5 hp sears that works best. The airless is the best way to spray house paint. Roll it or buy a wagner paint crew ($180).
