I have a new hardwood floor! (3/4" prefinished oak - it's beautiful)
I have a piano too (and other large wood legged furniture).
What is the best way to protect my new floor from being dented/scratched/marred by big furniture? Those carpet cups from Home Depot? Those ugly square rubber things?
Thanks,
eeprof

I use 3 steps in my line of defense:

First YES you must use leg protectors on your furniture. The good news is they make them now in all different materials, size and color. So finding ones to match your furniture and be as less offensive and obvious to the eye is easier.

Second, dust bunny collection is made easier now with these new roomba robot floor vacuums, from www.irobot.com although some people enjoy wandering around the house with the electric swiffer brooms droning in their head, me--no way! This amazing gadget does the dog hair, dust mite collection for me.

Third, Every couple of weeks I use a Swedish Formula (Bona) Hardwood floor cleaner. I pick mine up at Restoration Hardware, by the Industrial size container and then refill the spray bottle, more economical.

And if you insist on waxing occasionally, find your husband or hire someone.

BTW after 3 ˝ years in New England colonial my floors still look sensational.

Area rugs, area rugs, and more area rugs.

not only helps protect, but adds a finishing and design touch....
