I have a culligan water softener that is about three years old. It seems that lately it may not be doing as good a job at softening the water and removing minerals as it was before. how do i go about checking things over to see if it is clogged or something else is wrong. and is there any normal routine maintenance that i should be doing? can you point me to any good sources on the net that describe how to do some of this maintenance/inspection yourself? i'm just trying to save a call to culligan
thank you,
kevin

Check for a kinked drain line. Check for a salt bridge if it hasn't been using salt. Make sure the time of day is set correctly. Check tha tany meter cable is plugged in where it should be. Check the by-pass isn't partially open and in Service. Get a hardness test kit and see if the hardness and/or iron hasn't increased. If you are using more water now than before, set it to regenerate a day or so sooner. Otherwise, you'll have to call someone in to service it.
