I am putting in 3/4 inch hardwood and have hit a snag. I am almost finished the room but have to finish around the door and closet. It seems to me that I want to slip the wood under the door frame and closet trim (which I now realize I should have removed long ago) for a seamless fit. What is the best way to cut the frame and trim up so that the wood will slide under and is there a tool that will make this work nicely?

Thanks

you don't need to remove that trimwork, just undercut it. there's a saw you can get called an undercut saw (i think) that has the handle kind of curved up on it or something.............OR...........you can just use a regular crosscut saw - that's what my husband used when we laid laminate in our kitchen. worked just fine. he laid a piece of the flooring down & rested the saw on top of it, with the teeth up against the trim & just cut it. we slipped the flooring right underneath it & it looks great.

You can buy an undercut saw at Lowes/HD in the flooring dept. It will make the job somewhat simple.

Sometimes called a dovetail saw. The blade swivels on a central pivot and locks into the handle. That way you can use it lefty or righty. Very handy and only about $10.

Make sure you support the saw using a scrap of your floor so you get the height of the cut right.
