What type of primer should be used when painting over vinyl covered wall board in a manufactured home. It is a print now and wish to paint it a hunter green.

do you mean the sheetrock has vinyl wall paper on it? If so I would steam it off first and then prime and paint.

no - - definitely not vinyl over wall board that can be removed. It is a process done during manufacturing and cannot be taken off!

Usually any latex primer will work. If adhesion is a concern, use an alky or oil primer. Test drive some latex, put a brushfull on an area, let dry overnight. If you can easily scrape it off with your fingernail, then opt for the oil.

Krylon do a paint that is specificly for plastic and vinyl.
If the wallboard has a smooth and shinny surface you might need to sand it somewhat to give the base coat a good key if you opt for regular paint.
Having said that, check with your local to see if there is a Krylon primer that will adhere.
