Hi everyone, i am new to this forum, so if i make a mistake then please do not be too hard on me!
I need help - i currently have a marble hearth & surround, that is dark green(verging on black). I am looking to change this without having to rip the whole thing out. Is there any type of specialist paint that i can use? Also, would i be able to stone chip it? ( i think thats what its called, comes in a spray can and feels rough to touch??!!?)
help please as i dont want to be stuck with this colour forever!!
Many thnx!!

I can't recall ever seeing anyone paint marble. I would take this one to a paint store and see what they suggest. Some kind of epoxy paint MAY work but I would want some expert help before I tried it. :)

Do not do anything before you clean the marble.Super clean the marble to remove EVERYTHING. Sand with 220 grit sandpaper. mask off the area with newpaper or whatever. Prime with an automotive or appliance epoxy grey or white whichever is closest to the final color. Topcoat with the spray on granite looking stuff. On problem I could forsee is peeling due to heat, but it doesn't really get that hot unless something is wrong, so I say go for it as long as there aren't any warnings on the can.
