We planted squash, in Indiana - the package says Early Summer Crookneck. Now, our squash is orange and has warts on it, but the seed package shows yellow squash with no warts. Is it too old? If we can still use it in cakes and stuff, how do we do that? How do we harvest it? Do we grate it or what, to put it in cakes? How do we prepare it to freeze?

We greatly appreciate your advice. Best regards of the gardening season.

Sounds like summer squash gone by. Needs to be picked when it is about6 to 8 inches long. Pick old ones and new blossoms should appear.Squash should be picked about every 4 or 5 days.

Thank you, arlp. I'm glad there's still time for new growth.
