Okay, so i attempted to install corrugated drainage lines in my flower garden in the front of the house in order to divert rain water coming from a down spout right in the middle of the garden. I needed about 30' & dug my trench 1" deeper for every 10'. Once I got all the drainage lines in the trech I put the garden hose in the down spout at the roof line & waited to see it work. No good. I had leaks at every joint. I checked to see that I had the fittings as tight as they could be, and they were. But everything continued to leak. I need some help. Are there any tricks I don't know about? Are you supposed to use any kind of glue or cement at the joints? Is 1" for every 10' sufficient?

Most recommendations for slope are 1/8" per foot minimum.

I haven't used corrugated pipe because I prefer smoothwall PVC for drains, but it seems that the joints could be sealed to prevent leaks.

More of a slope might enable the water to drain faster and thereby reduce leaks.
