A semi-professional is remodeling my bathroom. I want to keep the tub except it has rust around the drain which is unsightly. I think I read on one of the forums about an "enlarged drain" used to cover the rust. The threads and drain pipe were standard size but the ring around the top was enlarged and covered the rust. Has anyone heard of this? Any other suggestions? Would a flange under a standard new drain work? Thanks for any help.

I would have the rust sanded and sealed, and install any brass or stainless steel drain or flange that will cover it (with plumber's putty under it).
Good Luck!
