Just bought a vista 50P that I'm planning to install in our next home (in a month or so). Was wondering what the default master code is to get programming starting through the 6160V kepad. Is it even necessary (do I get to program that code on power up)? Or is there a default factory code I'll need to be allowed in to program the different sensors/zones?
Thanks for any help

That code is in the installer manual. If you bought this panel used, without documentation, there's a number of online sources for the code. You should be able to get to program with * + # power up, but you really need that installer manual. This is a fairly complex panel.

I did buy it new in factory sealed box (but could be an older version-"revision 2"-manuals are dated 1999).
Was looking through the installation manual and I think I found it under the section on Authority Levels way back on p. 155. Not where one would think to look for a default installer code. It is mentioned in passing within the text of the installer code discussion. No special print, not even in bold. Sound right? 4 digit number, something like 4140 if I remember correctly?
Guess I need to really study that manual real well before tackling the programming.
Thanks
Steven

That sounds right.
Give that programming section a thorough read. Ademco manuals are not the easiest reading. They tend to skip around a bit, and they aren't always laid out in the most logical order.
