I would like to have a gas fireplace installed in my cabin. The cabin has a steep roof (15/12 pitch) which requires a 6 ' minimum height pipe above the roof line. I have been told I would have to build a chase around it. Why can't I simply use a roof brace to hold the chimney pipe upright? I really want a fireplace, but a chase sounds like alot of work.

Thanks! (By the way, I am in Minnesota so we get lots of snow here.)
