 I moved into a 1900's house in my living room i have 2 switches side by side one controls the ceiling fan/light unit in the living room the other controls the outside hanging light. I bought a outside light to hang on the wall of the exterior of my house. i cut the hole, and put the 2 wires in the wall. i disconnected the hanging outside light, and capped that wire off. I have 2 remaining wires inside now one pos one neg. now my problem is that i hook the wires up and one switch turns on the fan/light combo, but the other runs the fan/light combo too along with the outside light, and the outside light is dim. when i turn off the fan/light combo the outside light is bright. Please help!

Did everything work perfectly before your project began?
It is obvious that this wiring is all goofed up, but we need more detail to know exactly how and what to do to correct it. You say you capped of the original wiring that went outside. So to replace it, you ran what kind of cable? and from where to where? and how did you connect it at both ends??
