Installed a new bathroom sink, faucet and p trap assembly today. Having two small problems with leaks:
1. It seems the tailpiece of the new faucet has a minor leak where the brass tailpiece comes down out of the stopper pull up assembly.
2. Also, where the new J bend attaches to the tailpiece it is leaking at the slip nut connector. The tailpiece did not go totally down to the the ridged "stop" when I assembled it. This leak worsens when a sink full of water is emptied by opening the stopper. The other side of the J bend is attached to the silver pipe that is soldered in near the wall and that is not leaking.
I am having a real "mental block" with this entire sink installation! Any help would be appreciated. I started this project two weeks ago with totally worn out faucet seats and one thing has led to another! Thanks.

This isn't what the pros do, but I've always stopped aggravating slip nut leaks by smearing a little clear silicone caulk on the washers. Works for me.
Good luck!

Mike: The silicone caulk on the washers seemed to do the trick on the p trap.
It did not seal the leak on the drain tail piece. On that I am trying some Plumbers goop in hopes that will work. It is also leaking near the pop up assembly round screw-on nut and I put some goop near there too.
Problem is, it still seems like little drips are coming through the sealant.
Am I doing something wrong here? Seems like I am doing a lot of sealing/gooping for a a brand new faucet
Thanks.
