Duct Location to Meet Code

I live in the Mid-Atlantic and am moving an exterior wall 4 feet. The current air duct is in the floor in front of the existing patio door. To meet code requirements, do I have to relocate the duct in front of the new door, or can I move it against an adjacent wall?

You can put it where you want. It was in front of the door cause that is where the most cold would like come from.
