I did a quick down-and-dirty guide for adding a built-in wall unit to an existing wall. I recently wanted a change and was dick of my old crappy Wallnut wall unit that I built when I was in the Marines, so I visited some model homes to get ideas. I went to Circuit City and found the widescreen High Def TV I wanted and then used Solidworks do do the design (Most of you probably use pencil and paper, but I guess I'm a bit lazy and too uncreative for real artwork).

If any of you are interested in seeing the steps I used to make the wallunit, it's at my web site. (http://www.mymotleymind.com/wallunit.htm)

The total cost of the wall unit was about $280 and took two days to build. If I had an extra hand, I probably could have done it in one long day. :D

Great job man. One question - How did you handle the inside corner joint between the sidewalls and the existing wall? I guess you didn't tape it up - and it's unlikely the wall was flat enough that you didn't get some gaps. Did you use a bead?

I know you built this a LONG time ago, but I intend building one myself and would be interested in seeing how you did it. Unfortunately the link is nolonger live. Perhaps you could upload it again? Thanks
