I have a 50HP Evinrude. Need some advice on changing waterpump impeler. 1980 model. Never done this before.

Might go www.defender.com They have the manuals on them. If it has a wear plate there put a new one in also.

the impeller is in the lower unit. you will need to remove the six bolts
holding it on and release the shift linkage.
its tricky even for a certified tech. i agree, get a book.
and come back if you have a specific problem, like frozen bolts
or a maladjusted shift rod.
