Sorry Mr. Nelson, I read through all the ceiling fan guidance you've given and I didn't see this one.

I recently purchased a Hampton Bay Fan w/light to replace my old ceiling fan w/light. My life would have been perfect if they hadn't included a remote control. I have three wires (White, black and blue) coming out of the ceiling and three wires coming out of the fan, (white, black and blue). Perfect right? Unfortunately, they included this wonderful little remote receiver and remote. It has three wires on one side (White, Black and blue) that it says I should connect to the fan. On the other side, it only has two wires, white and black. So what do I do with the extra blue wire coming out of the ceiling? I haven't tried to put all the blues together. I went out and purchased a dimmer thinking that I could manage to be happy with that, but I think it's rated too low as the lights are too dim now.

You don't have to install it. Throw it away and be happy.

If you keep the remote, just connect white and black and leave blue unconnected (cap it off).

Do you have one wall switch or two? In either case, if you install the remote, leave them both on at all times.

I wanted to be able to dim the lights. Since the wall dimmer didn't get me there (it dims but isn't as bright as the installation was pre dimmer), I figured I'd try the remote option.

I had two switches prior to purchasing the dimmer. Now I have one combo thing that works but the high end of the dimmer is to dim.
