I have an Ademco Vista-20PS panel and would like to hook up an autodialer (USP AD-2001) so that after the panel calls the monitoring station it will call my cell phone. I want to preserve the line seizure function on the control panel side so that the monitoring station always has priority and my cell is called afterward.

Can I just hook up the phone-line "in" terminals on the autodialer to the "handset" tip and ring terminals on the control panel? I plan on programming an entry delay on the autodialer side so that it waits 2 minutes before initiating a call to allow time for the control panel to call the monitoring station and then free up the line. Is this the best way to do it?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

That's probably the best way to do it. However, I would leave it up to the monitoring company to call on a monitored system. For one thing, they can tell you exactly what happened - the dialer will only give you a pre-recorded message. Also, let's say you program your cell phone, if the dialer is calling your cell phone when the monitoring company tries to call, then they may get a busy or voice-mail. Not only is this not helpful to you, but it wastes their time.

I would highly recommend giving the monitoring company the numbers you want in the dialer and just skip the dialer - with monitoring, you really have no use for it.

Good luck!
