Hello, I live in a bungalo and have the basement gutted. I am looking for a very good alarm system that I can purchase form the manufacturer or distributor.
Are the ones that are installed by the alarm companies better or can I get the same ones and install them myself.
Can go hard wired or wireless or both if there is such a thing.
Thanks in advance,
Mark

One that comes highly regarded for DIY is the Concord Express by ITI. It's got both wired and wireless out of the box.

Absolutely, the ITI Concord Express is the best system for DIY purposes.
I use and install them, and my customers love them :D
Take a look at GE/ITI's website for more info: http://geindustrial.com/cwc/products/ge-interlogix?pnlid=9&famid=55&catid=1131&id=6-16hard&lang=en_US

Thank you, I will have a look.
I guess I should also say what I require and the wish list
First off is there any way to monitor a window (casement) that when it is open in the summer and someone is trying to enter that an alarm would go off? As this would be my bedroom obviously I do not want to do a back flip out of bed for a false alarm.
Needs to cover 7 windows main floor and 5 windows downstairs and one that doesn't open. Two doors
Also needs to cover garage door and entry door to garage with a disarm keypad in the garage since it is not attatched to the house.
Must be immune to pets of 30 lbs
Now the wish list
Would like to have camera(s), the ability to call me when there is a trip of the system and then me being able to log in on the internet and see what is going on. Also recording system for cameras during trip of system.
Is that asking for way to much? Is it feasable?
Could I even buy a system such as this without hiring someone to install it?
Finaly I think that this would be pricey but would do it in stages.
