Hi
I wonder if anyone can help as I am very confused. We have recently removed the old gas fire that we had. I am now left with an empty bricked hole.
I will not be putting another fire in but would like to have a decorative fireplace rather than a functional one. My question is how do I finish the hole so that I can paint it or tile it, do I need to plaster over the brick work or plaster board it?
I would appreciate any help, advice, on this subject
Many thanks
Lorna :)

There are any number of masonry cleaners , short of muratic acid, available from masonry supply dealers.
