I have an enclave which measures 60" x 40" into which I need to install a combination bathtub and shower. I would like to build a frame and install a drop-in style tub. The problem is that most drop-ins that I can find are very close to 60", and I would like to have some of the frame (approx 4-5") appearing around the edges of the tub on all sides. The frame would then be tiled and this would provide a level surface that my fiancee can use to store shampoo etc. Unfortunately, with a tub that is 60" in length there will be no room for such a surround on either end. Would it look strange with just a ledge on the long ends of the tub? Ideally I need a drop-in tub that is about 52". Does anyone know of such a bath tub? I would like to do more with this space than just slap in a plain old tub. Does anyone have any other ideas? I am very open to suggestions. The only requirement is that it is a tub/shower combination. Thanks in advance.

rhombeus,
With your issue of requesting a drop in tub and wanting it to be a tub/shower combination, I assume that you are going to use a shower curtain to keep the water within the tub area? Reason being the tub lip will not allow water to drain into the tub, hence "wet floors and worse".
The size you ask is small and drop in's are difficult to get. This link is for ABS units but are primarily used in mobil homes.

It may be a good idea to possible install a tub/shower module versus trying to find what you need, which seems almost impossible with what little research I have done.
Hope this helps!

rhombeus,
You're very welcome! If you can't find a drop in and are wanting a tub/shower combo, best alternative is the Fiberglass units which would fit nicely in the 60" space.
Good Luck!
