Hello,

I recently bought a house with an FA120 installed by Guardian in 1995. I don't have the master code, so I tried to reprogram the system following instructions posted in an earlier thread. I disconnected the battery and power, then re-applied power, and immeditely hit # and * at the same time. The system did not respond. Is it possible that the installer somehow blocked reprogramming of the system?

I found the original programming sheet left by the installer inside the alarm box, and I tried that master code but it did not work. There have been two other owners of the house since 1995 and someone must have changed it...

Any suggestions on how I could reprogram the master code on this system?

Thanks!
Eric

It sounds like they may have used the remote software to lock out local programming. Try having someone hold * + # while power is being reapplied. This may bypass that "feature". If it doesn't, you are probably stuck replacing the panel unless the people who did the lockout can be found. Usually when this feature is activated, all local programming access is disabled.

They seemed to do this primarily to systems with alpha keypads.
