With all the new products on the market, I wonder if anyone has some recommendations for two concrete problems: garage floor has pitted areas due to road salt and would like to correct it. Secondly, pool walk had been stained (should have thinned first coat by at least a third and that was not done) and much is peeling, would like to do something to give it a facelift that will last. Any ideas?

Was the pool walk sealed at one point?
What did you use to stain the pool walk?

Not sure what type of "sealing" you might be referring too. I can tell you that the walk was stained with a good Behr waterbase stain. Their application suggested two coats which was used but after the lifting problem began I should have gone with my instincts and thinned the first coat at least by a third, maybe even by 50% giving this first coat the ability to soak in, but I did not.....I followed the directions. I contacted Behr and they were very good about my inquiry, did not disagree that a first coat being thinned might be better but it was apparrant that their directions have worked fine in the past although maybe no one every complained either. They actually gave me my costs back and my first step will be powerwashing the walkway and then hopefully get some suggestions on what other ideas or products might be available to give the walkway a nicer appearance. Thanks for responding and look forward to hearing from you.
