I need to replace the cartridge of a single control shower. I removed the old cartridge but do not know how to remove the housing (not sure if this is what it is called) around the cartridge. It almost appears that the plastic housing around the old cartridge can be wedged out. The new part, Price Pfister Part Number S74-292, has both the cartridge and the housing. How do I get the housing out? Thank you in advance for your answer.

Did the housing remove with the caritage when you took it out? if so replace the old with new, if the new cartige comes with the new housing then don't worry about taking the old one apart.
