Hi, we are having trouble finding a bathtub to replace the tub in our 38 year old house, the tub measures 29" by 53". that 53" is from sheet rock, to sheet rock. the smallest tub we can find is 54" the width is no problem. We entertaine ideas about a shower, but then the width becomes a problem. Any ideas??? Thanks

Wpth1234,
Just to make you aware of Snoonyb suggestion, tubs are installed so that the tub flange fits against the stud. What you are finding is what you need. You probably didn't think about the drywall, etc. No problem. Tubs are measured by its overall length and rough in framing is this measurement.
You got it made! Buy it and install it!
Good Luck!
