Hey all,
I recently purchased a 72 Mercruiser Caravelle with a 120 hp I/O motor. I am new to boats and the way they operate. I cannot get it to start. I have fuel getting to the carb, but I cannot get spark. I get no power to the coil. Is there something that cuts out the power to the coil? Like I said, I am new to the boating world, so any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

My boat had a fuse in it that kept the boat from getting power to start. Mine would still turn over but would not start. I found that I have a 30 amp fuse that was blown. I would start looking at that. Look to see if your getting power to the coil. If you are see if your getting power out of the coil, use a spark plug and ground it and have someone turn the boat over and see if you get a spark. JKust start looking for your power problem.
