howdy all,

Im looking into buying an ademco lynxR-en. Two questions
1) it is apparently pre-branded, and so you cant set the number it will call. Is there a work around for this problem?

2) ive been able to find lynxR systems that are cheaper than lynxR-en. What (if any) advantages are there to getting the -en system?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!!

in fields 41 and 42 you can program the central station's phone number but there is also a paging feature that you can use. I haven't done that yet but it's there and you can program any number you want.

the lynxR-en has a feature that the old lynx does not have and that's 2WAY VOICE. you press the panic keys eg. fire or ambulance for instance, ADT would come on and while the fire department was on their way, talk to you through the keypad since the lynx system is a phone as well. if you pressed the police button, the monitoring station would opt to listen to what was happening in your home, again while the police dispatch was on their way.

the lynxR -en programming is different the the lynxR version. but really, I don't know if I would use the lynx because it's a stand alone system, and too easy to disable.

Try to get a system that has a keypad mounted near the entrance and a seperate control box hidden elsewhere in the house.

I hope this helps

If it's one of the models that has been hard-coded to call a particular monitoring center, spend your money elsewhere. Honeywell/Ademco makes modified versions of it's hardware for specific resellers, and some of the modifications cannot be changed because it's part of the panel's "firmware".
