Would like to cover two- 4" support poles to make them look like columns or pillars. In the center of the room. This would be to make wood columns. Is there a website or a book anyone can recommend? Never seen anything of the such, but it looks easy enough. Hmmmm

i'm sure you can either purchase a column kit, or make your own from mouldings. someone here in the Woodworking forum will know. good luck!

Menards sells exactly what you're looking for. You can also build a square column around it too.

Check out this site

It will show you how to use your table saw to make the column. Last night I cut some 2x12 into 3in strips. I then swapped in a dado blade and set it to 45 to cut the birdsmouth. Tonight I'll glue it up and put band clamps on it.
I have a Legacy Ornamental Mill so that is how I'll get it round. But it could also be done with a handplane or even sander.

Good luck
