I'm looking for a very simple solution to a delema I have been experiencing. I am almost deaf and when a customer comes into the office I need to know, thus I need a simple type of indicating system.
I'm thinking of a magnetinc type door sensor that somehow momentarily flashes or illuminates a light to indicate a customer is waiting for service.
Im sure the solution is simple but I'm not a security specialist so I have come to you for a solution.
Any assistance will be very much appreciated!

Check with Radio Shack. I'm pretty sure that they sell a gadget that hooks into a normal doorbell circuit with a flashing light for the signal. You simply replace the normal doorbell switch with a door switch that will handle the current.
