I'm just beginning to look into this. We'd like to put a low border around the bottom of our house to look like a stone foundation. One of the homes in our area has a nice, maybe 2' high, border around the house with a small stone ledge along the top.

What is the process for doing this?

What can I expect for pricing in New Jersey area? We're thinking cultured stone for the cost benefits, but also for ease of installation.

If you want more information on how cultured stone is installed, I found a lot at www.culturedstone.com but if you search on cultured stone you will find more. If you want to do it yourself, as I plan to, there seems to be a lot of possibilities. It seems like all you have to do is pull of what you have there now, install the proper water barrier, install the metal lath followed by a scratch coat of mortar. This and more is in the cultured stone instructions, but I plan to get my local building inspector involved at the planning stage.
