When installing tile, does the flan (sp?) go above the tile or under the tile?
And you then grout around the commode bottom?

Jake, I believe that the tile should go under, just be sure that your mounting bolts for the toilet are in place before you set the tiles, so that you are certain you have enough room to get these in place.

Unless you are changing the flange anyway then leave it alone and get an extra wide wax ring to make the difference up.If you are planning on changing the flange anyway then go ahead and tile first then put the flange on top of that and then set the toilet.

You are better off caulking the seam around the bottom of the toilet versus grouting,the grout will not stick to it :cool:
