I have a fairly new high efficiency Coleman gas furnace (single stage) and a Coleman two stage air conditioning unit. At the moment, I have a plain non-programmable thermostat (no set back). The installer said this was best! I want to change this to a digital programmable thermostat.

This must be possible, but a couple of local hardware stores have indicated that there is a problem with the two stage unit.

Ideally, I would like to install a multi-zone system. (3 zones, basement, first, and second floor) Is this possible? And if so, can you point me to some information on digital programmable thermostat for a two stage air conditioning unit/single stage gas furnace that will work with a (future) multi-zone controller.

I am sure this topic has come up before, but I am new to this area. Thanks in advance.
