In reference to the suggestion to planting thyme, oregano or rosemary, do you get the fragrance? Can you grow these throughout the winter indoors on the east coast?

The scent of the plants is stronger up close. They should do fine indoors in the winter with sufficient light.

Don't forget there are some very nice setups that use 4 foot double flouresent lights with a timer. You will be surprised at the double & triple shelf models just made for growing your own fresh cooking herbs all Winter long.

Do a search on plant lights & you will be anazed at how fast you pay for the setups with what they sell fresh herbs in the supermarkets.

BTW: a warm white with a cool white bulb do a better job of growing plants than those fancy $$ so called Plant Gro Lites :D Study done by USDA.
