I am fixing up an old bench to use till I can afford to build a better one. I have glued down a plywood top on the old surface and would like to finish it with something that will harden it up a bit. I don't really want to use poly.

What do you think??

No Poly?
Then screw down a piece of 1/4 inch hardboard. That way it's replaceable.

I thought about that also. Sounds good. :)

When the hardboard gets beat up, flip it over.
