We are receiving a marble slab as a wedding gift. Before it is actually sent to us, we have some say as to what colour and size it will be. The only thing is...we have absolutely NO IDEA what to use it for!!! Hopefully somebody out there will be able to suggest something practical???
Here are the details...
It can be 9ft sq. in any dimension (ie, 2x4.5, 1x9, 3x3).
It is 3/4 '' thick.
It can't be carved, but the edges can be specified. We have around 15 colours to choose from, and we really can't use it in the kitchen --which is probably the natural choice.
Any suggestions?

Coffee table. It won't work for a tombstone, the lettering on marble tombstones does not hold up to weather for more than 50 years.

Sat on top of an end table, to liven up and old piece of furniture.
