I am currently in the process of building my first house. the foundation contractor just finished pouring the foundation and forgot to put the rebar in the area that ties the main foundation into the garage (my master bedroom is also over the garage). they told me that they can drill the rebar into the foundation and it is not a big deal. they will also be pouring piles under the garage. should I be concerned with this???

thanks

Adding Rebar after the fact is a fairly common practice. Are these Vertical Bars that would tie in the Footing with the Stem wall or tie the new with the exsiting.

You may want to consult a engineer to see what they would recommend. A few things that I would suggest and again I would consult an expert. One would be be sure they Drill deep into the Foundation and I would epoxy the Bars in.

the bars would come out horizontially. they tie the main foundation of the house into the garage fondation. as I said before, the master bedroom is over the garage. this is all new construction.

Ok sorry, I don't know why I thought this was an addition

Like I said Drilling Bars after the fact is a common practice. I would just be concerned that the Contractor does it correctly.
