I am building a new home at the New Jersey shore. I'm thinking about putting a concrete floor in the crawlspace which is about 4 feet in height. Are there reasons that this should not be done? If concrete is used does it act as a vapor barrier?

The concrete should have plastic underneath it for best results.

6 mil minimum vapor barrier is required under a concrete slab under living space.
