Last season I bought 2 large specimens from a nursery close out. They were near dead. This season the took off, the display was beautiful. Now the flowers are dying off, but so are the leaves. Is this typical? Also, should I cut down to the ground in the fall?
thanks
thanks

Hi jvirtue
Is this typical? Yes
should I cut down to the ground in the fall? Yes
The folks who don't cut them back get a big narly mess as years go by.
PS: Hold off on the high nitrogen fertilizer, a 5-10-15 or just Fish emultion will yield a great display of flowers.
