Hi - I posted a thread about a week ago regarding my central air - which is not cool, but room temperature. Because I know nothing about this stuff, I'm very concerned about being ripped off by technicians or salesmen I might have to deal with in fixing or replacing the unit.

1. What should I expect to pay for a technician to come and have a look at the heat pump?

2. What should I expect to pay for an entirely new unit - including installation, etc.?

P.S. I live in the Philadelphia suburbs.

1. $50 - $100

2. Hard to tell. If it comes to this get at least three bids from established HVAC companies and be sure they do a load calculation on your home.

matt is right. #2 all depends on size, location of equipment, brand and seer selected, etc
