Hi all,
My wife and I recently moved into a house and one of the first home improvements we made is that we ripped out the wall to wall carpeting and refinished the underlying hard wood floors. When the floors were being sanded down the central air sytem was left on and it seems that alot of the wood dust got sucked into the central air ducts. This is to the extent that a month later the air coming out of the vents still is carrying the dust partiles (I can tell this because a layer of dust gets deposited on the walls that the vents blow on). I have very bad allergies so this dust problem is a big deal to me.
My question is wether this problem will go away by itself and if it will not is there anything that I can do to fix it. Can excessive amounts of dust do damage to the central air system?
thanks

For sure. It could pay to clean the A coil in there and the drain pan now. Then get some pleated filters change them every 30 days I would also add what is called a filter Coat spray to the intake side of the filter to help. Have in the past run the blower 24/7 for a time and put damp cloths over the register outlets. Or if its that bad have the ducts cleaned.
