My window a/c temp is set at 61, the outside temp is 70 with humidity of 94, the inside room temp is @ 70 and the thermostat I've placed in the top air louvers reads @ 45. The problem is the LED display reads 82.
Why is it doing this? What does it mean? With this weather I am loathe to turn off the a/c yet with this constant high reading compared to the readings on the thermostat in the cool air vent and my room thermostat I'm worried I may be damaging the unit by running it anyway. Ideas anyone?

What is the temprature of the air entering the filter area of the a/c?
If you set the desired temp at what room temp currently is will it cycle?
The temprature sensing bulb may have fallen down out of the airflow or something it should be right there behind the filter sensing air coming into the unit.

The temp at the filter area is @69. I set the temp to this and it is still cycling!! On high, no less.
This is a Haier unit with a slide out chassis with electronic touch pad control panel. I have cleaned out the gunk in the back, including the back coils. When I did this I did not open the front section. I tipped the machine to empty out the excess dirty water - did I shake something loose, perhaps?
The filter is a side slide out from the front panel so I could not see any thermostat bulb to measure the incoming air flow from the room. The temp display now reads 87! Am I cooking something internally or is that temp bulb being fried and if so will the a/c still work? (without disastrous results ie frying the machine so it will not work?)
Thanks.
