Hi,
Wondering if anyone has any experience with repairing a cracked antique marble backsplash off an old antique vanity. This backsplash stands about 4 feet atop a marble vanity countertop and has a mirror cut out and is about 40" wide.. The breaks are clean and are around the mirror where the marble is about 5 inches wide. I am wondering how to reapir it. Should I should use a backing like 1/4" wonderboard and just glue the marble to it and no one really know (except some antique purist who would cringe if he saw it). I thought of cdx plywood but thought the contraction/expansion of the wood might be a problem with it coming loose eventually not to mention the thickness and added weight that will fall upon the marble vanity top... Also thought about fixing the breaks with a two part epoxy and hope it doesnt come crashing down. Any thoughts you have or recommendations would be greatly appreciated??? I have pictures if needed...

I think that would be best left to a pro. I would take it to a solid surface shop to see what they can do. I work with the stuff and I don't know. A solid surface shop that makes counter tops has to make joins in marble all the time and have the equipment and knowledge to take care of it for you.
