I have a basement floor that is nothing but problematic. It drops around an inch from doorway across the room to the toilet, and of course I planned on tiling the room.

:P

...so I immediately thought about using some self-leveling cement to level the floor out. The problem is the plumber set up the toilet flange flush with the existing floor, and that's the lowest spot in the room, and the ABS joint for the toilet flange is set in concrete. Since I've never used this stuff before, and I'm not quite sure what to do about the toilet area:

1. How thin do you mix this stuff? Do you just paddle it like you would mortar? In a 5 gallon bucket?

2. Do you just pour it on the floor and hope for the best, or do you start in the lowest spot and work your way out.

3. What size trowel do you use to float it? Do you float it at all? If not then do you just let it run wherever it's going to run?

4. What do I do about keeping this stuff from covering the toilet flange?

5. What do I do to reset the toilet assuming the new floor will be 1" above the flange?

Just some curious questions...
