I have gotten conflicting info on this subject so I thought I'd ask here.
The AC guys installed a new compressor (old one siezed up under warranty) at my daughter's place and part of the installation was installing a drier cannister on the liquid line and also a drier cannister on the suction line. They were different in size (which I expected).
Now I am having AC work done at my house (that's a story in itself) so I happen to ask the guy (different company) about the driers and he said that they shouldn't have installed drier on both lines and if they did they should take the one off the liquid line within 3 or 4 days (I guess there is some circumstance where you would initially install both driers).
So is there any problem with leaving both driers on for the longterm?
Thanks, Dave

A lot is in what happen to the old compressor. burn out or what. Yes you want a drier in there for sure. When there is no pressure drop across the drier or temperature drop they are ok. If the big one on the suction line does this then yes it should come out . And Id put a new one right back in.

i see both quite often
if there was a severe burn out, there would be a lot of acid in the system, and once the suction side drier does it's job it should be removed.
