How old is the tree? How long since it was planted? Is it planted understory or in the open? Describe the holes and the appearance of the leaves in general.

the srub is next to a shed and the top leaves are fine but the bottom ones have small holes in them. Some of the leaves have a squiggle mark on them that look like a worm or something had been there. I just planted the shrub this spring.

Are the leaves otherwise green and healthy in appearance?

Most trees suffer some damage each year. Feed the tree in December. All should be fine if it is just the leaves.

The Cornus Koosa is a better choice than the Cornus Florida to resist anthracnose.
