Hi; I am installing a new tile floor in our kitchen and am trying to determine layout. Should I layout the tiles so I have even exposure at the toe kick when the cabinets are installed; or should I lay it out so it is even on both sides of floor and let the joint fall where it will when the cabs are installed? The cabinets will be an "L" shape layout but later we may install a (work-center) set of cabinets on the other wall making a "U" shape layout. Then there will be cabs on opposite long walls and the end wall. Another question I have is what to use where the Tile will abut to carpet at the Dining room opening for appox. 10' opening? I have seen the vinyl that fits into a track but I don't know how that will work if the elevations of tile and carpet are different. Hope you can help.......Thanks; BillyG.

I pick the focal points of the room and lay the tile out from that perspective.Whatever you will see the most of then make that full tile and go from there.

Schluter makes alot of different transitions for just that kind of transition, don't use the trak one with the rubber it will not look good in you're home, you mostly see those in commercial projects.Go to www.schluter.com and see what they have ,they are readily avail;able just about anywhere and are easy to get once you know what it is you are looking for
